How Should Signal Types Be Separated When Designing Aircraft Disconnects?

Posted by Marc Piloian on April 9, 2018

Modern combat aircraft like the F-16, F-18, F-22, F-35 (and some newer F-15’s) are all fly-by-wire aircraft. This means loss or degradation of the electrical system could result in the pilot being unable to control the aircraft even if the propulsion system is still operable. This makes it very important that the Electrical Wiring Interconnect • Read More >>

What are Disconnects and Why Do Aircraft Have Them?

Posted by Chris Vardy on March 19, 2018

A question I get asked often is “How many electrical wiring harnesses are in a single F-16?”  The exact number is dependent on when the F-16 was assembled and what country is flying the F-16.  So, what does that have to do with disconnects? It has to do with aircraft maintenance and safety.  The more • Read More >>

What is an Air Vehicle Specification and how is it used related to wiring harnesses?

Posted by John Ashour on March 5, 2018

Are you are a new engineer freshly out of college or are you just learning the aerospace industry?  Did you just land a job at a large aerospace company (typically these companies are called OEM’s which means Original Equipment Manufacturer) that designs and manufactures aircraft? Is your new job at the OEM to design electrical • Read More >>

How Many Flight Control Wiring Harnesses are there in an F-16?

Posted by John Ashour on February 19, 2018

InterConnect deals with many different armed services all over the world. All of them are regimented, disciplined, and professional. Although there are many phrases in common for each of them throughout the world, one that stands out is “Bottom Line Up-Front” or BLUF. When commanders get briefed by others, they want BLUF or “What is • Read More >>

Arc Tracking of Kapton Insulated Wiring Versus TKT

Posted by John Ashour on February 13, 2018

Who is the biggest loser? TKT Insulated Wire or Kapton Insulated Wire? How does arc tracking of F-16 TKT wiring harnesses compare to F-16 Kapton wiring harnesses? This article includes videos too!   Most of InterConnect’s blogs in 2017 were about F-16 Kapton insulated wiring. We discussed many things about Kapton wiring including: (1) which • Read More >>

What is the Priority List of Wiring Harnesses to Replace on 20-Year-Old F-16’s?

Posted by John Ashour on February 5, 2018

InterConnect’s previous article described which areas inside an F-16 house the most problematic wiring harnesses.  The purpose of this article is to get more precise by listing F-16 wiring harness part numbers as well as the areas they are generally located. InterConnect offers many wiring harness replacement programs, sometimes calling them rewire programs. InterConnect’s most • Read More >>

What are the MTBF Recommendations for F-16 Wiring Harnesses?

Posted by John Ashour on January 15, 2018

This blog is a detailed one and InterConnect is going to do something that never has been done before! InterConnect is going to set MTBFs for F-16 electrical wiring harnesses!  If you are new to the term MTBF, please read this previous blog.  If you want more information on why MTBF’s are not set for • Read More >>

Why is MTBF Not Determined for Aircraft Electrical Wiring Harnesses?

Posted by John Ashour on December 18, 2017

InterConnect’s blog entitled “What is Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) for F-16 Wiring Harnesses?” provides details about what MTBF is and why it is important.  The purpose of this blog is to explain reasons why MTBF is not determined for aircraft electrical wiring harnesses including the F-16. Before we delve into this discussion more, there • Read More >>

What is Inherent Viscosity for F-16 Wiring Harnesses?

Posted by John Ashour on December 11, 2017

This is the most difficult blog that I have written concerning F-16 wiring harnesses.  It is difficult because it is a technical subject that needs to be understandable to the average reader of InterConnect’s articles.   InterConnect has written blogs on the benefits of Kapton wiring as well as the problems of Kapton wiring.  InterConnect • Read More >>

Where are Aircraft Circuit Breaker Panels and Why Refurbish Them?

Posted by Clare McGarrey on November 27, 2017

In a previous blog InterConnect taught us the difference between a circuit breaker panel and a power panel. The purpose of this blog is to explain where circuit breaker panels are located inside of an aircraft and why you may want to refurbish them.   If this blog was written by the president of InterConnect • Read More >>

Our License

We are the sole licensee of Lockheed Martin for F-16 electrical products. Through this agreement, we have access to Lockheed Martin’s F-16 engineering data, tooling and configuration control information. We also have a Technical Services agreement with Sikorsky for all of their aircraft. This agreement allows us to obtain their engineering data needed to rewire helicopters that Sikorsky manufactures.
