WHAT IS A COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE AND HOW IS IT USED?

Hi. My name is Malich, Training Manager at InterConnect Wiring – where Connections Matter. Today we’ll be looking at our CMM – or “coordinate measuring machine” and what it does for our F-16 panels.

WHAT IS A COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE AND HOW IS IT USED?

Very specifically, with this ruby-tipped probe, we’ll go and take very accurate measurements of these counter-sinks. It will go in three circle paths, measuring the different ranges. That’s how you would make the counter-sink up. Following the counter-sink on this lap path, it’ll make the diameter.

As you can see it will step out, take its measurement, and then step back in. What this coordinate measuring machine is doing is measuring the different coordinates that these parts are in relation to what’s known as an origin point. This will take some time but, luckily, most parts pass the first go around.

Thank you for watching. My name is Malich at InterConnect Wiring where Connections Matter. Be sure to visit our website for more vlogs, blogs and updates.
