FALCON FOCUS – Joshua Bryant

You may have never heard of a Plant Controller before but trust me when I say that Joshua Bryant is integral to our success here at InterConnect. Over the years he has served in many roles. His experience and what he does for us day to day is why he is today’s Falcon Focus.
What is your role at InterConnect?
I’m the Plant Controller. My job is to help InterConnect be successful financially. I evaluate contracts and risks financially, whether that’s looking at materials, labor, or efficiency. I also evaluate how we can improve our rates, estimations, material, pricing, labor, and efficiency.
What did you do when you started at InterConnect?
I’ve been working at InterConnect for close to 12 years. I started in the sales department as a contract administrator. I would assist our customers with quotes and estimates. I moved into the Sales Manager position shortly after that. I really liked dealing with our customers. I especially liked engaging in new projects such as the F-15 program. I was the Program Manager of that, and it was really neat. It was great because I was involved from the very beginning of the bid stage, through winning the contract, and then deliveries.
How does your role CONNECT you with co-workers?
Part of it is that we work together as a team. So, we all have our specific responsibilities. However, we’re really all part of “Team InterConnect.” Even though our job description says we do one thing or another, we really do whatever is needed. That’s one of the things that I like about small businesses; people pitch in and help. You may be a Planner, but we need your help preparing for an estimate in the Sales Department. So, we will come on over and help. And one day if Planning is busy, we may call upon others to help. It’s a give and take.
Why are you proud to work at InterConnect?
One of the things that really draws me to InterConnect is that we provide defense products. I really feel like we’re part of something bigger than InterConnect. We’re part of the safety of our country. We’re a part of defense and that’s really appealing to me being part of something bigger that way. Both my granddads and my father were in the military, so a sense of patriotism has a strong appeal to me.
Joshua has been married to his wife Laura for 20 years. They have 4 daughters. Joshua holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M and a Masters of Divinity from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. Joshua was born in Texas and was raised in New Orleans, LA. He spent two years living in Paraguay where he met his wife. During his spare time Joshua likes to complete different projects especially ones where he gets to work with his hands.
