FALCON FOCUS – JOHN ASHOUR

In this month’s Wonderful World of Wiring newsletter, I had the pleasure of interviewing the company’s fearless leader, Mr. John Ashour, for our newsletter’s inaugural “Falcon Focus.”
John, what is your role at InterConnect Wiring?
As the President of InterConnect Wiring, my role is to lead our company and live out InterConnect’s “Why,” Connections Matter. I personally like to know every employee and customer that InterConnect has. As president I choose to not sit back and watch; rather, I play an active, working part. I like the proactive approach, for example, knowing our customers instead of just being another email address.
How do you connect with employees?
I enjoy connecting with all employees by leading “companywide meetings” every workday. All employees attend this meeting and are given information about the company and tools that help them succeed. Each day I like to recognize an individual employee as the “Fantastic Falcon” of the day. This person has contributed above and beyond their usual role the day before. This culture leads to a family atmosphere that makes InterConnect more than just a place to go to work and then go home.
What is one of your favorite things about your company?
I am proud that InterConnect can do things that many other small businesses cannot do. I attribute this success to InterConnect being well run, organized, and embracing technology. My favorite thing about work is the large project and challenges that come up. Multi-year, multi-million dollar deals require expert program planning to deliver an excellent product on time.
What is your favorite aircraft?
My favorite aircraft is obviously the sleek, beautiful F-16. I grew up with the aircraft and designed harnesses for it during my time at General Dynamics, before starting InterConnect. I really enjoy going to see the Thunderbirds at Airshows.
John Ashour holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Before founding InterConnect Wiring in 1993, John worked for five years at Comanche Peak nuclear power plant. He also worked for five years at General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in the F-16 wiring harness design group. Mr. Ashour has served on the Navy League of Fort Worth Board of Directors and the Board of Directors in charge of commissioning the USS Fort Worth. John is also a member of the Fort Worth Air Powers Council, the US Air Force Association, and the Army Aviation Association of America (QUAD-A). Mr. Ashour is the Chairman of the InterConnect Wiring Board of Directors.
