What Is A Supplemental Type Certificate?

A supplemental type certificate (STC) in the United States is an FAA approved major modification or repair to an existing type certified aircraft, engine or propeller. The purpose of the STC process is to ensure the modified or repaired item remains airworthy in accordance with the approved standards and requirements of the original type certificate. Many other countries use the STC process, however, the regulator is not the FAA but the analogous agency in that country. As it adds to the existing type
certificate, it is deemed “supplemental”.

Congratulations to our customer, ACE Aeronautics for the receipt of their UH-60A Restricted Category Type Certificate. They have worked hard to receive it. With this Type Certificate, they can offer both domestic and international customers who fly the UH-60A a complete airlift solution with Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) and full depot level repair capability of the UH-60. ACE Aeronautics has been working on several Supplemental Type Certificates (STC’s) for both civil and military digital cockpit upgrades, as well as other mission-specific subsystems. We proudly support ACE Aeronautics with electrical wiring harnesses and loose wire assemblies for their UH-60’s.

If you have any questions about Supplemental Type Certificates, electrical wiring harnesses, or the Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) for UH-60 Black Hawks, please contact us.
