When my sister was in high school, she had the chance to go on a trip because of Lockheed Martin’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). My sister and her classmates attended conferences in Orlando that piqued their interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). I’d like to think that SHPE played a part in her becoming the traveling nurse she is today.

SHPE fills an important role in our Community, and it was a great pleasure to help sponsor the SHPE 10th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament this year! The golf tournament took place May 5, 2022. The proceeds for this tournament go towards helping Hispanics achieve their goals in STEM. It has become a proud InterConnect tradition to sponsor this event. We were even able to kick it up a notch this year and became Gold sponsors.
It was a great time and InterConnect’s team won first place with an excellent score of 51! There were 36 teams that participated. Our team consisted of Rick Lloyd (Program Manager / Lockheed Martin), Landon Moore (Account Management Director / Mercury Systems), Nick McGarrey (President / SIS Promotionals), and me, Joseph Rodriguez (Business Development Specialist / InterConnect Wiring). You can see us pictured above from left to right.
Community is one of the Core Values that InterConnect is built upon. Thank you to Lockheed Martin and SHPE for the opportunity to help uphold this Core Value. We believe that it is our duty to help others, so this sponsorship opportunity was a great pleasure. We look forward to doing it again next year!
