Tis the season! It’s time for InterConnect’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive. InterConnect has hosted a toy drive for the Como Community Center for 5 years now. A very large box is located in our main lobby at 5024 W. Vickery Blvd for anyone who would like to donate. Just bring an unwrapped toy between 8am-4pm Monday – Thursday, from now until December 15th. Como Community Center is just 2 miles from InterConnect Wiring, which puts them in InterConnect’s immediate community. Helping the community is one of InterConnect’s greatest joys! Come by and drop off a toy if you can! We would love to once again fill the box FULL of toys for the children!!!
The Como Neighborhood Center was built in 1970, and is located on Horne Street near West Vickery Boulevard. Its after-school program has been in existence for 17 years, and between 140 and 175 students participate annually. Additionally, Como is the only community center in Fort Worth that has a track and field team, as well as peewee football and cheerleading leagues.
Among the many other programs it offers, the Como Center hosts a Kids’ Cafe evening meal program and a Mobile Pantry initiative, which is done in collaboration with Tarrant Area Food Bank. It is also a Community Action Partners site that provides assistance to low-income families.
